During U-M’s DEI Summit Week, the Voices of the Staff Advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team is sponsoring two screenings of Me, The “Other,” a documentary about a diverse group of students in Southeast Michigan.

Both screening will take place on Oct. 12.

The film is the centerpiece of a platform for creating conversations about what connects people and what keeps them apart.

The first screening is in Angell Hall-Auditorium B at noon, followed by a panel conversation with the film’s director Shidan Majidi, cast, crew members, and Katrina Wade-Golden, Ph.D., U-M Deputy Chief Diversity Officer.

The second screening is at 3 p.m. at the Dow Auditorium in Towsley Center, with a similar panel discussion featuring Gary Freed, M.D., Michigan Medicine pediatrician and an Office of Health, Equity and Inclusion faculty lead, to follow.

Me, The “Other,” which premiered earlier this year at the Michigan Theater on Martin Luther King Day, was awarded Best Documentary in 2018 and was featured at a South Dakota Film Festival in September.
