To close National Emergency Preparedness Month, organization sets sights on evacuation planning

Emergency Management Operations has designated 2019 as the year for evacuation drills.

In preparation, EMO is excited to share that it is updating the organization’s Facility Evacuation Plan.

The updated plan will include information on patient assembly areas, patient preparation for evacuation, shelter-in-place vs. horizontal evacuation vs. vertical evacuation, and much more.

Here are some examples of instances when the organization may choose to evacuate:

  • Floods
  • Storms
  • Tornadoes
  • Fires
  • Toxic gas releases
  • Chemical spills
  • Radiological accidents
  • Explosions
  • Civil disturbances, and
  • Workplace violence
