The Breast Express coming to Michigan Medicine on Friday, June 22
A one-of-a-kind RV will make a stop at Michigan Medicine on Friday, kicking off a series of stops throughout Michigan.
The Breast Express is a 40-foot “pumpsuite,” traveling the country to celebrate breastfeeding and promote the need to support moms’ needs at every stage of the nursing and pumping journey.
Faculty, staff and visitors can come by to tour the unique RV, get breastfeeding questions answered, celebrate mothers and mothers-to-be and participate in conversations about how the organization and community can support nursing and pumping mothers.
Developmental behavioral pediatrician Megan Pesch, M.D., and general surgery resident Sarah Shubeck, M.D., arranged for the “Breast Express” to visit the hospital. Both have been actively shaping their department’s policies as it relates to employee and faculty breastfeeding support, and have helped arrange for the RV to make a number of other stops in the Ann Arbor area along its route.
The event is free and will run from 10 a.m. until noon on Friday in the oversized vehicle area in front of C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital.
