On Monday, several representatives from the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital perioperative team were on hand in the Regents Room at the Fleming Administration Building to accept congratulations from U-M President Mark Schlissel as a team finalist for the President’s Staff Innovation Award.

The nomination was submitted in recognition of the team’s efforts for creating a tool to prepare patients for their perioperative experience; as well as acknowledging former team member Michelle Bochinski’s vision in creating, promoting and garnering funding for the project.

The goal for this project was to create an innovative tool that would educate the pediatric patient population and their families about surgery and to enhance the perioperative experience at Mott.

Production of this innovative six-minute educational video geared for patients and family members contributes to ongoing optimal patient preparation that enhances safe medical care and efficient management of operational time.
