Epic — the software behind MiChart — recently awarded Michigan Medicine with Magna Cum Laude status in its Honor Roll Program. The recognition program is based on achieving continuous improvements in patient outcomes, quality of care, workflow efficiency and financial performance.

“Participating in the program ensures we draw the most value from MiChart,” said Karen Hollingsworth, senior director at Health Information Technology & Services (HITS). “This achievement is a reflection of Michigan Medicine’s devotion to excellence in health IT and and patient care.”

To receive the financial credit, teams from HITS, the Office of Clinical Affairs, Nursing Informatics and Hospital Operations made enhancements that help engage patients in the care process, make MiChart easier for clinicians to use, and keep pace with the rapid advance of health technology and medical knowledge. Michigan Medicine will apply the credit to future Epic invoices.

“A phenomenal amount of work went into achieving this honor,” Hollingsworth said. “It was a collaborative effort and I applaud the perseverance of the many teams who contributed.”
