Employees recognized for ‘priceless’ contributions
Wednesday was an inspiring day at Michigan Medicine, as the organization’s outstanding faculty and staff were recognized at the annual Employee Appreciation Breakfast and Dinner.
Nearly 8,000 employees came to the UH Cafeteria early in the morning or around dinnertime to get a tasty meal served by members of the organization’s leadership team.
While they were there, faculty and staff were able to have fun with their colleagues by posing with props at a photo booth or stopping by a table where they could fill out a Making a Difference form to honor those who inspire them every day.
“Our community serves patients and families in so many priceless ways, and this is just one small thing we can do to give back and show our appreciation for their commitment and dedication,” said Bishr Omary, M.D., Ph.D., chief scientific officer and executive vice dean for research. Omary joined dozens of other leaders serving the delicious dishes to employees from every department at Michigan Medicine.
For many, it was a perfect way to begin or end their day at the academic medical center.
“We come down here every year because it shows that our organization appreciates what we do on a daily basis,” said Wendell Mason, Jr., a tech in the adult Emergency Department.
For others, it was a chance to connect with colleagues across the health system.
“I really enjoy the camaraderie at an event like this,” said Amir Lagstein, M.D., assistant professor of pathology. “It doesn’t matter what role you play here, everyone gets to come together and celebrate making this a better place.”
For those who work offsite, locations will be provided luncheons throughout the month of May in which Michigan Medicine leaders will also attend.
Thank you for all of your hard work on behalf of patients, families and colleagues at Michigan Medicine!
