Patient Safety Week: A message from David Spahlinger M.D., and Laura Lamps, M.D.

Beginning this Sunday, March 11, Michigan Medicine will join health systems across the country in focusing on one of our most important core values — patient safety. In partnership with the National Patient Safety Foundation, we will be participating in Patient Safety Awareness Week, a nationwide campaign designed to engage health care providers, patients and their families in conversations about safety and its critical role in health care delivery. Patient Safety Awareness Week provides a platform for everyone across Michigan Medicine to reflect on the importance of patient safety, and celebrate our ongoing efforts to continuously improve the quality and safety of our patient care experience.

Even as we face difficult business decisions and a challenging health care climate, we remain committed to prioritizing safe, quality care for our patients and their families. We encourage you to participate in the events planned across the health system during Patient Safety Awareness Week,  and show your support for all of our patient safety efforts.
