Help U-M scientists advance in STAT Madness!

It’s a great week for U-M teams in tournaments. Basketball, hockey — and science, too.

A team of Michigan Medicine and School of Public Health scientists representing U-M in this year’s “STAT Madness” virtual tournament of science has made it to the Elite 8. Their research, which aims to stop “superbug” infections by multidrug resistant bacteria in health care settings, has received thousands of votes from across the country.

You can help them keep going by voting on the STAT Madness website and by spreading the word to friends and family who root for U-M.

If you use Twitter, you can also tune into a live tweetchat with members of the U-M team and their competition from East Carolina University.

The chat takes place this afternoon from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Follow the hashtag #STATmadness2018 to see questions posed by the STAT News organization that has organized the tournament, and learn the answers from Evan Snitkin, Ph.D. and Joyce Wang, Ph.D. of the Medical School Department of Microbiology & Immunology.
