Windows 10 is coming to Michigan Medicine!

This means that Windows 7 — the current operating system (OS) on CoreImage Windows/PC devices managed by Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) — is being retired. It also means that Microsoft will stop supporting the current OS with updates and security patches required to keep data and devices safe. To get ahead of the transition, HITS is beginning to migrate CoreImage Windows/PC devices from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

There are more than 35,000 Windows-based devices within Michigan Medicine. As a result, HITS is prioritizing this effort to ensure that the software applications and hardware used on PCs will be compatible with the new OS. This upgrade will have no impact to Mac/Apple laptops or desktop workstations — unless they are running Windows.

Migrating to Windows 10 will allow Michigan Medicine to remain current and supported, maintain future application compatibility, improve end user efficiency and provide a secure computing environment. Watch for more information as HITS teams prepare to visit your area.
