This holiday season, there are two new Healthy Eating Tip of the Month displays around the academic medical center.

The first is located in the Comprehensive Cancer Center on B1 and provides you with advice and tips to ensure a balanced diet and healthy weight aimed at preventing cancer. The display contains handouts with the top 10 recommendations for cancer prevention, cancer fighting foods and recipes, and tips and tricks to achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. And don’t forget to enter for a chance to win a prize that will encourage healthy eating: a hanging fruit basket! At the end of the month, a winner will be drawn.

The second topic, “Pediatric Healthy Holidays,” is located in the UH Cafeteria. Included in the display are brochures and flyers on the following topics: tips for staying active during the winter months, festive healthy snack ideas, a “how-to” guide for building a healthy holiday plate, 10 ways to cut back on kids’ sweet treats and holiday meal makeover swaps. A seasonal produce cookbook and winter-themed snack cutters are available to win by raffle.
