Kids at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital were recently (trick or) treated to a day of fun and games!

Spirit of Children — a nonprofit whose mission is to make hospitals more comfortable for kids and their families — sponsored a Halloween party in the Mott Family Center. The event brought nearly 100 kids down from their hospital rooms and gave them a chance to dress up in costumes, paint pumpkins and enjoy Halloween-themed decorations and activities.

“This was a unique opportunity for our patients to have a little bit of fun,” said Lindsay Heering, director of Child & Family Life. “It’s so important that kids and their families still get to enjoy Halloween while getting the exceptional health care at Mott that they need.”

Many of the costumes were donated by customers at a local Spirit of Halloween store, meaning those in the community played a major role in giving the kids a day that was anything but boo-ring.

“This whole event was a team effort. And to see the smiles on the kids’ faces when they came down here, it made it memorable for everyone,” Heering said.
