Take the stress out of parking: Consider other convenient options

Are you tired of driving around parking structures looking for available spaces? While parking on the medical campus can be a challenge, U-M gives faculty and staff a number of convenient parking options to make your life easier and make parking less stressful.

So instead of spending significant time looking for a spot at the academic medical center, consider the following options before you renew your parking permit by July 1.

All of these alternatives take advantage of easy and dependable bus service Monday – Friday. And they will even help you save a buck — both by not using up gas traversing the parking structures and by allowing you to purchase less-costly parking permits or no permit at all!

• Green Road Park and Ride
  • Where: On Green Rd., just south of Plymouth Rd.
  • Length of trip: About a 20-minute ride to medical campus
  • Average vacancy during peak hours: 135 spaces
  • U-M bus service: North-East Shuttle, every 15 minutes from 6:15 a.m. – 7:15 p.m.; last outbound trip from the medical campus leaves at 7 p.m.
  • AAATA bus service: Bus No. 23A (outbound); every 60 minutes from 6:52 p.m. – 10:52 p.m.
  • Cost: Free, no parking permit required

• Plymouth Rd./US-23 Park and Ride
  • Where: On Plymouth Rd., alongside US-23, east of Green Rd.
  • Length of trip: Approx. 18-25 minutes to medical campus
  • Average vacancy during peak hours: 95 spaces
  • U-M bus service: North-East Shuttle, every 15 minutes from 6:15 a.m. – 7:15 p.m.; last outbound trip from the medical campus leaves at 7 p.m.
  • AAATA bus service: Bus No. 23A (outbound); every 60 minutes from 7:22 p.m. – 11:22 p.m.
  • Cost: Free, no parking permit required

• SC6/SC7 lots — Ross Athletic/South Campus
  • Where: On athletic campus, just east of Crisler Center
  • Length of trip: About a 20-minute ride to medical campus
  • Average vacancy during peak hours: 225 spaces
  • U-M bus service: U-M Commuter route; every 10-11 minutes from 6 a.m. – 6:50 p.m.; every 15 minutes from 6:50 p.m. – 1:30 a.m.
  • Cost: Orange permit required

• Miller-Maple Park and Ride
  • Where: On Miller Rd. just west of M-14
  • Length of trip: Approx. 18-20 minutes to medical campus
  • Average vacancy during peak hours: 40 spaces
  • AAATA bus service: Bus No. 32A (inbound to med campus), every 19 minutes between 6:22 a.m. – 9:01 a.m.; Bus No. 32B (outbound to lot), every 25 minutes from 3:21 p.m. – 6:41 p.m.
  • Cost: Free, no parking permit required

The Division of Public Safety and Security, police and security officers patrol these U-M lots during peak arrival and departure times. They also will be providing data on a periodic basis on incidents occurring in the lots.
