Citrix receiver upgrade begins Sunday
From Sunday, June 4 through Friday, June 23, Citrix Receiver (used to access MiChart) will be upgraded on all computer devices where it is currently installed.
Computers will be divided into 10 deployment groups and the installation will occur at 4 a.m. on a different day for each group. The deployment will prompt users before installation, as it will require Citrix — and by extension, MiChart connections — to be closed. Users will be able to defer the upgrade for two nights before the system will force the workstation to upgrade.
There is a 15-minute timer so you can save your work and close MiChart before the installation begins. If the system is not powered during the deployment window, the device will receive the update next time it is powered on and connected.
What does this mean?
- There is no need to utilize VPN to connect to hosted applications.
- If you have placed a shortcut to Citrix on your desktop, that shortcut will no longer work.
Please note, whenever software or applications are upgraded, the shortcut “pathway” is no longer valid and will not allow the shortcut to open to the correct location. Therefore, Health Information Technology & Services discourages the use of shortcuts.

Also, if you have not had a chance to upgrade Citrix Receiver on your personally owned device, please follow the directions in this document to do so.
