Office of Clinical Safety now known as Office of Patient Relations and Clinical Risk
To better reflect its mission and the services it provides to patients, families and staff members, the Office of Clinical Safety is now known as the Office of Patient Relations and Clinical Risk — or PRCR.
The office addresses patient concerns along with any potential or actual medical malpractice claims. It also works closely with the newly created Office of Patient Safety to implement best safety practices across the organization.
“We’re here to help support patients, families and staff members during some difficult situations,” said Susan Anderson, director of PRCR.
“While our core function hasn’t changed, we wanted to change our name to make it easier for patients and staff to recognize the significant role we play in the organization,” Anderson said.
The new name also helps to avoid confusion with other units and departments at Michigan Medicine, such as the Office of Clinical Affairs.
