Accessing applications from outside network to be easier, more convenient

April 3, 2017  //  FOUND IN: Updates & Resources

Health Information Technology & Services, or HITS, is pleased to announce that there will be a simpler, more convenient way for many users to access hosted applications, such as MiChart, from outside the Michigan Medicine network. The changes take effect on Tuesday, April 4.

What’s new?

Employees accessing MiChart from non-CoreImage, or personally owned devices, outside of the Michigan Medicine network can now either:

  • Download the new Citrix Receiver. In conjunction with Two-Factor Authentication (Duo), using the Citrix Receiver will allow you to securely connect to the Michigan Medicine network without using a browser or Virtual Private Network (VPN).  For more information, including step-by-step instructions for configuring your non-CoreImage computer, tablet, or mobile device, click here.
  • Use the new Virtual Places login. This will require you to input your Level-2 password in order to access.

What stays the same?

Users accessing MiChart from CoreImage workstations/laptops outside the Michigan Medicine network will continue to use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN. The plan is to eventually move all workstations to the new Virtual Places login; more details will be provided about this in the future.
