Reminder: Consent to electronic W-2 now, print later
If you have not done so already, please visit Wolverine Access no later than Friday, Jan. 20 to consent to receive an electronic PDF copy of your 2016 W-2 instead of an identical mailed copy.
Go to Wolverine Access > Faculty & Staff tab > Employee Self-Service > Payroll and Compensation > View W2/W-2c Forms. Your 2016 W-2 has been available for viewing and printing in Wolverine Access since Friday, Jan. 6.
When you choose the electronic PDF copy, you will:
-
Avoid having sensitive W-2 information, such as your Social Security Number, delivered via U.S. mail
-
Save significant postage costs and other associated mailing costs
Last year, the university saved $30,000 in postage thanks to those who received an electronic copy. If you do choose to receive your W-2 Form in the mail, hardcopy W-2 Forms will be mailed by Jan. 31.
The university will also provide Form 1095, which reports information about health care coverage, either electronically or by mail. If you consented to receive the electronic version, Form 1095 will be available starting Monday, Jan. 23, in Wolverine Access > Employee Self-Service > Benefits > View Form 1095. You should retain this tax form with other tax documents needed to file your federal taxes.
More information is available at hr.umich.edu/form-1095.
To ensure prompt delivery of tax forms by the U.S. Postal Service, your current home address must be correct in our records. You can update your current home address via the web. Go to Wolverine Access > Employee Self-Service > Campus Personal Information > Addresses. Address updates may also be made using the Address/Personal Data Form available on the Human Resources website.
