Making a difference: December 2016 highlights
Employees across Michigan Medicine continue to make a difference through their hard work and dedication. Recognizing the contributions employees make to the organization helps our team to become more motivated, drives better teamwork, and gives each individual a sense that they are an integral part of achieving our organizational goals.
You may not always realize the impact you make during each customer interaction (both internal and external), but it’s a vital part of the relationship-building process that the Michigan Medicine team uses to engage with patients and each other. Here are a few examples of team members who made a difference last month:
Patient/Family Member to Staff
Rhonda Jones, Stock Keeper, Materiel Services
Recently, I was a visitor who was lost on 4 West of the main hospital. I saw Ms. Jones and explained to her my situation and the family I was looking for. With kindness and patience, she walked me to the several places the family I was looking for might be. She walked me to the Neuro ICU nursing station where I was finally able to connect with the family. Ms. Jones was gracious and stayed with me until my problem was solved. Many thanks for her generous spirit!
5A, University Hospital
My daughter was recently a patient and her care was beyond excellent! Every single person she came in contact with was skilled, compassionate, loving, professional and caring both toward my daughter and me. What a tremendous hospital! Thank you to everyone who cared for my daughter during her stay, including: Drs. Siegel and Bierman, the nursing director and nurses, nursing assistants, IV team, custodial staff and cafeteria employees. Everyone treated her with respect and care. A special thank you to the nurses who cared for her as if she were a member of their own families. Please know your kind words and loving care did not go unnoticed and you have all been in our prayers with gratitude. We will forever hold you in our hearts for taking such good care of us during such a difficult time.
Staff to Staff
Linen Services
We just wanted to say how much we truly appreciate the Linen Services folks who take the time to carefully fold our linens received at Brighton Health Center Internal Medicine. We know it might not seem like a big deal, but being in charge of ordering our laundry and putting it away makes all the difference in time management by those who take the time to fold our linens carefully. We are limited by space so it really does make a difference when it is done well. We really appreciate all of the team members who work in Linen Services. Thank you so much for taking pride in how your job is done. It is appreciated more than you could ever know!
Rebecca Luttrell, Solution Center Specialist, Human Resources
I’d like to recognize Rebecca for always going above and beyond. She is a true example of what it means to make a difference. She is always willing to take the time to answer a question or provide assistance. She provides exceptional customer service. Thank you, Rebecca for all of your hard work and dedication to customers and the university!
