Reminder: Consent to electronic W-2 now, print later

December 12, 2016  //  FOUND IN: Updates & Resources

If you have not done so already, please visit Wolverine Access no later than Tuesday, Jan. 24, to consent to receive an electronic PDF copy of your 2016 W-2 instead of an identical mailed copy. Go to Wolverine Access > Faculty & Staff tab > Employee Self-Service > Payroll and Compensation > View Paycheck. You will be prompted to provide your consent before you can select a paycheck.

Your 2016 W-2 will be available for viewing and printing in Wolverine Access on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017.

When you choose the electronic PDF copy, you will:

  • Avoid having sensitive W-2 information, such as your Social Security Number, delivered via U.S. mail
  • Save significant postage costs and other associated mailing costs

Last year, the university saved $30,000 in postage thanks to those who received an electronic copy. If you choose to receive your W-2 Form in the mail, hardcopy W-2 Forms will be mailed by Jan. 31.

The university will also provide Form 1095, which reports information about health care coverage, either electronically in Wolverine Access starting Monday, Jan. 23 or by mail by Jan. 31. You must consent to receive Form 1095 electronically by Friday, Jan. 8, either at the same time you consent to receive an electronic PDF copy of your W-2, or in Wolverine Access > Faculty & Staff tab > Employee Self-Service > Benefits > ACA 1095 Consent. You should retain this tax form with other tax documents needed to file your federal taxes. More information is available at the Human Resources website.

To ensure prompt delivery of tax forms by the U.S. Postal Service, your current home address must be correct in our records. You can update your current home address via the web. Go to Wolverine Access > Employee Self-Service > Campus Personal Information > Addresses. Address updates may also be made using the Address/Personal Data Form available on the Human Resources website.
