Lecture to focus on concussions in youth sports
This year, the Child Health Evaluation and Resource Center welcomes soccer legend Briana Scurry and Steve W. Berman, J.D., to speak on the subject of Concussion and Youth Soccer: Balancing the Risks of Recreational Sports for Children.
The duo will speak as part of the 10th Annual Susan B. Meister Lecture for Child Health Policy on Nov. 17 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Scurry will discuss her personal experiences with concussions as a professional soccer goalie and her efforts to influence policy change through testifying before Congress. Berman will speak on his experience leading a whistleblower lawsuit on behalf of parents to change rules for FIFA and youth soccer regarding heading and substitutions.
