Julie Brabbs named Cancer Center chief administrative officer
Julie C. Brabbs, MBA, was named Cancer Center chief administrative officer. She will also serve as associate director for administration for the center’s National Cancer Institute Cancer Center Support Grant. The appointment was effective Oct. 17.
Brabbs has served for nearly 10 years as administrator for the Division of Hematology/Oncology in the U-M Department of Internal Medicine. For the past four years, she also has served as administrator for the Molecular Medicine and Genetics Division of Internal Medicine. In her role as division administrator, she was engaged in planning, evaluation and administrative oversight of laboratory and clinical research, patient care and educational activities. Brabbs led a team providing all of the administrative and financial support for more than 90 faculty members, 150 laboratory staff and 30 research laboratories working across five research facilities.
Prior to joining U-M in 2006, Brabbs spent roughly 13 years at pharmaceutical companies Parke-Davis and Pfizer. There, she was a senior analyst and financial specialist in licensing and technology collaborations with other pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. She was also director of business administration for the global research portfolio in the neuroscience and dermatology areas.
In her Cancer Center role, Brabbs will lead all administrative functions supporting the Cancer Center’s mission.
