MCIT Teams Increase MiChart Performance to Top Five Percent
MiChart, U-M’s Electronic Health Record, saw remarkable performance improvements this past March due to server upgrades. The upgrades addressed workflows that commonly exceeded target response times, such as opening the Visit Navigator, accessing Patient Summary windows and opening the In Basket launch folder.
A more recent upgrade to a new class of server, implemented in July, has placed MiChart performance related to response times and exception percentages in the top five percent of all health systems utilizing similar electronic health records.
The blue line in the graph below shows MiChart’s updated exception percentage while the orange line reflects MiChart’s updated response times. The green line indicates workflow counts.
From just before the initial server upgrade in March to now, exception rates have reduced by nearly 90 percent and average response times have reduced by 37 percent. The table below highlights the improvements to some of the commonly exceeded exception rates and average target response times for MiChart users.
These improvements equate to a faster, more user-friendly experience for MiChart users, which ultimately leads to a better patient and family experience at UMHS. We would like to congratulate the MCIT and MiChart teams involved in making these remarkable improvements.
