Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that impacts millions of people around the world. JDRF is the leading global organization that funds research to cure, prevent, and treat type 1 diabetes. As a platinum sponsor, UMHS is partnering with JDRF to help raise awareness as well as funds for research.

Here is what you need to know about the upcoming walk:

  • When: Sunday, Sept. 18, registration is at 8:30 a.m., walk begins at 9:30 a.m.
  • Location: Hudson Mills Metropark, just north of Dexter
  • Length of walk: 3 miles

Employees can sign up for one of the existing U-M teams or simply join the UMHS team named “U-M Health System.”

If you register to walk (or register to be a virtual walker) and donate at least $25, you will receive a special U-M walk t-shirt (while supplies last).

And if you register by Aug. 23 with at least a $25 donation, you will be entered into a drawing to win four tickets to see the Detroit Tigers play the Chicago White Sox on Aug. 30 at Comerica Park in Detroit.
