Dr. Fenner steps into new role at UMHS
On Aug. 1, Dee Fenner, MD, the Harold A. Furlong Professor of Women’s Health, stepped into a new role at UMHS.
Dr. Fenner began her work as the new chief clinical officer for University Hospital and the Cardiovascular Center.
In this role, Dr. Fenner will partner with Marge Calarco, chief nursing officer for UH/CVC, and Shon Dwyer, executive director for UH/CVC, to provide operational leadership.
Dr. Fenner will report to Dave Spahlinger, president of the UMHS Clinical Enterprise and Jeff Desmond, chief medical officer of UMHS.
Her position is part of a new organizational structure that spans the health system. The new model of collaborative leadership will help deliver the highest quality and safest care to our patients.
As part of this structure, UH/CVC, the Children and Women’s Hospital and the U-M Medical Group are each led by a team that includes a physician, nurse and executive administrator.
Working together, these leadership teams are empowered to manage the day-to-day clinical and financial operations of each hospital, making decisions and doing what’s needed to best serve our patients.
Dr. Fenner has been a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2001 and brings years of leadership experience to her new position.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Fenner on her new role and in supporting her and the rest of our leadership teams as they help carry UMHS into the future.
