The Project Healthy Schools team is excited and grateful to announce that it has received commitments for continued funding from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will provide $185,000 and Blue Cross will contribute $100,000 to bring Project Healthy Schools to at least 10 additional schools this fall as part of the Building Healthy Communities partnership.

PHS works to improve the physical health and academic success of children in the UMHS service area. The program also works to stem the increasing economic and health care burdens of childhood obesity among Michgan's children.

The PHS team is currently reviewing applications to determine which schools will be a part of the Building Healthy Communities: Engaging Middle Schools program this fall.

PHS is honored to continue partnering with the state of Michigan and Blue Cross to continue this fantastic program.
