On April 26, the publisher of the website Health News Review, Gary Schwitzer, spoke at the U-M Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation about how the media covers medical research and advances in care, and how clinicians and researchers can help make that coverage better.
Schwitzer leads a team that for 10 years has acted as a watchdog on the news media’s coverage of health, especially of new treatment options, and that recently began doing the same for press releases issued by hospitals, medical schools, medical journals and other entities.
