Does your child ever ask about your job or what you do at work? Take Your Child to Work Day is April 28, your chance to show them first-hand your role at UMHS.

Bringing your son or daughter to work could be a unique educational experience beyond the normal classroom. While there is no formal program for this day at any UMHS/UMHHC location, department/unit leaders can decide to host visitors if operations allow.

If your department/unit plans to participate, please consider the following to ensure a productive and enjoyable day:

·         Respect the privacy of our patients; Children cannot be exposed to any form of protected health information in accordance with Visiting Observer Policy 04-06-061. Additionally, visiting children should not interact directly with patients.

·         For infection control reasons, visiting children are not permitted on inpatient floors, and in any patient care areas in ambulatory, clinic, or research settings.

·         UMHS/UMHHC policies must be adhered to at all times. Employees are responsible for their own child(ren) while on UMHS premises.

If C & W employees bring children to work, they should check in at the front desk and get a visitor sticker for their child. Other departments should check in using their unit’s routine policy for visitors.

And don’t think Take Your Child to Work Day needs to be all work and no play. Send a cool photo of you and your kid(s) at work to for a chance to win a family pack of movie tickets!
