The next Continuous Quality Improvement Brown Bag is on “Hazardous Chemicals: Managing Employee Risk”.

The event will take place on Tuesday, Dec.15 from noon – 1 p.m. in MCHC Auditorium (F2305). Experts from Safety Management Services will be discussing this topic.

This discussion will provide current information on each department’s responsibilities under the UMHHC Hazardous Material policy 05-03-025 as well as Joint Commission standard EC.02.02.01. Safety Management will introduce a simplified template (training plan) which will be used as a foundation for employee training and will help departments in achieving compliance. Key elements of the template will be discussed including the process of conducting and documenting a chemical exposure analysis and applying appropriate protective measures. Other elements of chemical safety will be discussed including labeling, safety data sheets, chemical inventories and department specific training.

All faculty and staff are cordially invited to attend.  For more information, contact 615-5374 or visit the Quality Improvement website at http://www.med.umich.edu/i/quality/edu/qibb.html.
