U.S. News and World Report recognizes 159 hospitals for improving patient care through technology

The U-M Hospitals and Health Centers have been recognized among 159 hospitals for improving patient care through technology. The U.S. News and World Report named UMHHC to its Most Connected Hospitals list for 2015-2016.FINALNEWSHSH123

The designation means we use digital technology and electronic connectedness in many ways to improve satisfaction and treatment for our patients.

UMHHC received accolades for:

  • Sharing data with healthcare teams within and outside our walls
  • Improving patient safety through computerization
  • Engaging patients in their own care by providing them with electronic access to their own medical information

The U.S. News and World Report looked at 56 areas where technology helped patients. Each hospital received scores from 2013 and 2014 American Hospital Association Annual Survey Information Technology Supplements.

To achieve Most Connected status, a hospital had to score at least 70 out of 75 points in 2014 or 55 out of 61 points in 2013. UMHHC also received perfect scores in patient safety and patient engagement categories.

Those named Most Connected Hospital were also nationally ranked or rated as high performing by U.S. News in 2015-16 in Best Hospitals (for complex care), Best Hospitals for Common Care or Best Children’s Hospitals.
