FBI provides tips on preventing information theft during international travel
Do you know how to protect your data and intellectual property while traveling abroad? At this seminar for U-M researchers and IT staff, Cory Brown, Strategic Partnership Coordinator Federal Bureau of Investigation, will tell you how to:
• Keep your intellectual property and data safe when traveling.
• Understand and mitigate risk in airports, hotels, conferences, and other public places.
• Recognize external threats to avoid becoming a target.
• Know when and how to use encryption.
• Know which countries have restrictions on encryption.

About Cory Brown
Cory Brown, a Michigan native and U-M alum (BBA ’98), has worked in national security for his entire career with the FBI. He started in the Kansas City office where his responsibilities included economic espionage cases. He transferred to Detroit two years ago, where he specializes in working with companies and universities to improve their information security. Before joining the FBI, he was a lawyer specializing in civil business matters.
