Karen Farris, Ph.D., named chair of Department of Clinical, Social and Administrative Sciences
Karen Farris, Ph.D., has been named chair of the Department of Clinical, Social and Administrative Sciences at the U-M College of Pharmacy. Dr. Farris’ appointment was recently approved by the U-M Board of Regents.
“I am excited for the opportunity to work with college faculty and administration to bring new vision and energy to our research and clinical activities,” says Farris.
Farris earned her Ph.D. in pharmacy from U-M in 1993 and returned in 2011 as the Charles R. Walgreen III Professor in Pharmacy Administration. She also serves as professor of Health Behavior and Health Education at the School of Public Health. Her research and teaching focus on social theories to examine how individuals manage medications and how pharmacists in primary care settings influence medication use. She studies individuals’ medication adherence, reasons for non-adherence, and how we may impact medication non-adherence.
