For patients like George, the wait for a transplant can be agonizing
April is national Donate Life Month
Transplantation gives hope to thousands of people with organ failure and provides many others with active and renewed lives. More than 120,000 men, women and children are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. That’s almost enough to fill Michigan Stadium! Our patient George Magulak was featured last fall in the latest “Wolverines for Life” video, which promotes the Be a Hero at the Big House drive. Each year, the participants in the drive can donate blood, sign up as an organ or tissue donor, and get both screened and registered on the National Marrow Donor Program Registry.
The “Wolverines for Life” video uses Michigan Stadium as a dramatic illustration of the huge wait list for organ donation. You can read about George and his wait for a liver transplant here.
Please make a difference by learning more and by joining the Michigan Donor Registry. It only takes 20 seconds and you could save 8 lives!
