Construction begins in May on Fuller Road, Maiden Lane

April 27, 2015  //  FOUND IN: Announcements,

This summer, the city of Ann Arbor will conduct necessary bridge maintenance on Fuller Road and Maiden Lane. Construction is expected to begin May 4 and end by August 21. Please allow extra time when traveling to and from the U-M Hospitals and Health Centers and share this information with patients and visitors.

From May 4–June 26, work will take place on the Fuller Road bridge over the railroad on the west side of the U-M Hospitals and Health Centers. One lane of traffic on Fuller Road will be maintained in each direction at all times. Maiden Lane and E. Medical Center Drive bridges will remain fully open to traffic.

From June 27–August 21, construction will occur on the Maiden Lane bridge. For the first month of this project, only one-way traffic traveling to the hospitals and health centers on the southbound lane of Maiden Lane will be maintained. Detours will be in place for traffic traveling from the hospital that would normally use the northbound lane of Maiden Lane. These drivers will need to travel south on Glen Avenue, west on E. Huron Street, north on N. Division Street, and east on Broadway Street. See a map of this detour here.

Bus impact: From June 27–August 21, the Wall Street-NIB and Wall Street Express bus routes will only travel clockwise around the U-M Hospitals and Health Centers, serving the interior side of the street. Wall Street-NIB buses will go directly to Wall Street from the North Ingalls Building and the Wall Street Express buses will go directly to Wall Street after stopping on Zina Pitcher Drive. More information on bus route changes can be found at pts.umich.edu.

All work impacting vehicle traffic along Maiden Lane is expected to be completed on, or before, August 21, 2015. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times during construction.
