A message from Marschall Runge, M.D., Ph.D.

On Monday, April 6, Doug Strong will rejoin the health system after serving as the University’s interim executive vice president and chief financial officer since June. I’ve asked Doug to step in as a senior advisor to me over the next several months. In this role, he will be responsible for both discrete projects and ongoing strategic initiatives in areas of great importance to UMHS and he will assist me as I get familiar with the health system and the university. During this time, Tony Denton will continue as acting chief executive officer of the Hospitals and Health Centers and Shon Dwyer will continue as acting director of University Hospitals.

Doug’s experience and knowledge from working in the health system and on campus will be very valuable in this role and to my onboarding. He brings a unique breadth and depth of perspective regarding finance, hospital operations, strategic planning and academic medical center management.

Please join me in welcoming Doug back to the health system.
