Dr. Johns wins Lifetime Achievement Award

Michael M.E. Johns, M.D., former interim executive vice president for medical affairs at U-M, was honored this week with the 2015 Castle Connolly National Physician of the Year Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Throughout his career, Johns achieved international reputation as a cancer surgeon and has become a leading spokesman on the reform of the nation’s health care system. Read more about Johns’ contributions and see a summary of his achievements in the video below.

This award recognizes both physicians and leaders in health care whose dedication, talents and skills have improved the lives of thousands of people throughout the world.

Connolly, president and CEO of Castle Connolly, hosted the annual award event on March 23 at the historic Pierre Hotel in New York City. This event is a tribute not only to the awardees but to the excellence of the many thousands of practicing physicians throughout the nation.
